Do celebrities (i.e. soccer players, singers, etc.) earn more than they should? Of course, they do. One dosen’t need to spend hours researching to find out. In fact ,all that one needs to do is to watch TV or read the sports page of a newspaper, and you can easily imagine how much they earn! As a matter of fact, their earnings reach millions of dollars on TV appearances alone! For example, Tiger Woods, currently the world’s highest earning athlete, earns over 90 million dollars per year, according to Sports Illustrated magazine, in which 70 million came from endorsements, while the rest came from his salary and winnings!
The point is, it doesn’t really matter at all whether one earns much or not, but what matters is that how they earn and spend it once it comes into their hands. As public figures, they must also show moral and social accountability to the millions who watch them on TV. History has shown repeatedly what happens to those personalities who don’t pay attention to these matters.
After all, at the end of the day, it’s up to us whether they stay in their “A-game” or not. Everyone knows very well that if no one watches them, they will be out of business. If they want to do so, then they can start by spending their enormous income in a productive way that benefits everyone.
